Plus, I haven’t seen Battle of Algiers. If I were in SLC already that problem would be solved.

yeah. we’re watching phase iv tonight.

i loved battle of algiers. i saw it a couple years ago, but i was so impressed with it this last time. all the planned, coordinated bombings were great. and disturbing. it’s interesting that the pentagon watched this movie looking to learn from the mistakes of the french — tactically successful but leading to a popular backlash which lead to independence — an instead went even further than the french in illegal and unpopular techniques. i mean, the torture in the battle of algiers is disturbing, but totally mild compared with abu ghraib.

The Battle of Algiers is incredible. Seen it a couple times now.
